Until the death of John Paul II most people would say that the need for religion is diminishing. The rat race was seen as the most important goal for average man, in whose life there was no place for everyday satisfactions, meeting with friends and religion. Instead of that people became a part of company and only a machine for earning money.
At the beginning of April the world stopped and integrated probably for the first time. Everyone was concerned for the Popes health and started to analyse the sense of life and what really is important in everyday activities.
Furthermore, entrepreneurs started to think more ethical about the mission of nowadays companies and noticed the peoples need for religion. In addition, they realised that profit cant be the only goal for companies and people are the most important element of firms.
What is more, people probably had earlier need for religion, but they didnt have an opportunity to realise it. They didnt know what is buried deep within their subconscious. Therefore, such terrible experienced boosted their willingness to be a part of society and church.
To sum up, there is no doubt that people want to return to ethical and simple life without greed and cruelty. The question is how long that change in minds will last and how much it will change characters and social relationships. The nearest future will answer those questions and reveal the truth of the real needs of societies. Nevertheless, the need for religion has increased recently.
